5 Summer Diet Hacks

 

Summer is finally here, along with family BBQs, ice cream vans and afternoon picnics. Here are my top 5 tips to help you stay on track with your diet while enjoying yourself in the sunshine.

 

  1. Think Volume

Everyone loves to see a nice full plate. Fill your plate up with spinach or salad before topping with other food. This way, it looks like you’re eating more. Grilled vegetables are another low calorie way to eat more.

 

  1. Ice cream or ice-lollies?

Ice-lollies have less calories than ice cream, especially if you make them yourself with 100% fruit juice. If ice cream is what you really want, mini milks are a great low-calorie option.

 

  1. Drink up

If you find it hard to drink lots of water, try no added sugar squash with ice. You can often think you’re hungry when in fact your body just needs hydrating. Carry a water bottle with you to encourage you to drink up. You can also aid hydration by eating fruit that is full of water such as watermelon.

 

  1. Eyes bigger than your stomach?

Overeating is very easy, especially at a BBQ. To combat this just have one portion of food and only go up for seconds if you are truly hungry.

 

  1. Sweet tooth?

Try fresh fruit and Jelly, a refreshing low calorie snack that is perfect for a hot day. Strawberries, raspberries and other fruits also contain an abundance of vitamins and minerals to help your body perform at its best.
